5 Tips to Increase Traffic to Your Blog

blogging Build it and they will come.  Wrong.  Worked in the movie but it certainly does not work that way in the Blogging World.  I have been blogging now for about a year so I am still a newbie but I have learned a few things in my rookie year.

One of the greatest lessons I have learned is it takes time and effort.  You are not going to put a few articles up and have a flood of traffic, that’s for sure.  What I have experienced is that a few of your posts are going to pull a majority of your traffic.  How you manage that traffic once it is in your blog is part of the learning curve.  Blogging takes practice and it is OK to make mistakes.  It’s how you get better.

Keep posting, try and stay focused on a topic and connect with your readers.

5 Tips To Drive Traffic To Your Blog.

1.  Read lots of other blogs and leave comments with trackbacks.  It is important to have your blog optimized for search engines.  Keyword research will ensure your blog is focused for the search engines.  Here is one of the best tools in the business.  Keyword Research Tool

2.  Writing articles and submitting them to EzineArticles.   Articles that have been written from well-researched keyword phrases and accepted by EzineArticles tend to rank very high in Google for that search term. Place anchor text in the footer of those articles so the reader can visit your website.

3.  Post consistently, at least once a week.  Use ping services like pingomatic or set up wordpress to ping some of the ping services. Engaging your readers with polls and quizes can aid in repeat traffic and having them spread the word about your site.

4.  Work on generating traffic off-line.  Including your website in all of your off-line literature.  Business card, letterheads, invoicing, brochures and flyers.  You can even have it stenciled on your vehicle.

5.  Participating in forums related to your blog.  Establishing yourself as an expert and gaining trust within the forum will allow you to drive some traffic to your site.  This is also a great place to find content ideas.  You can write articles for solutions to problems you might uncover in the forums you are participating in.
