I have been spending the last week in a small town in the middle of the country called Hutchinson, Kansas. The reason I am here is because my mother has been ill and in the hospital over this past 10 days. She is on the road to recovery now and will be out of the hospital by the end of the week. Our family is originally from Northern Illinois but a variety of circumstances transplanted both her and my brother here about 2 years ago.
I personally had not been to Kansas prior to my first visit 2 years ago when we moved mom here, but I liked the town right away. The terrain and the wind was certainly a different experience. Lots of wind. So much wind, in fact, that the daily forecast includes the amount of wind that can be expected for the day.
I did not spend a lot of time during the first visit, but this visit I have had a chance to submerge myself a bit into the culture of Hutchinson, Kansas. One of the places I have been hanging out is a local coffee shop called, Metropolitan Cafe. It has provided me with a great place to un
wind, connect to the internet and experience some local music and listen to the local people discuss their plans and daily activities. The cafe is comfortable, well decorated and located in an area of town that is easily accessible and provides ample parking.
