I love the internet.  As I learn more about it and become more involved with it I am amazed at the people inside of the internet.  You see, I am the kind of person that will wait until the very last possible minute to ask for help.  I rarely asked my teachers or fellow students in school for help, thinking that would make me seem like I didn’t know the answer and give myself away.  It just did not make sense to me.  What happened is I spent a lot more  time than I should have trying to find the answer on my own.   Well, that is exactly what was happening today.  Luckily,  I decided to go ahead and throw a little post on the Thesis forum this morning.

Now I have to be honest – I am just learning about the power of forums.  I have spent some time reading a few over the last couple of years but not until I took the class from Dr. Andy at Affiliate-Minder.com called WordPress for Affiliate sites did I actually utilize a forum for solutions.   I was amazed, he would usually answer within 24 hours and he would have answered sooner but since he lives in Spain and I live in the states, I’m thinking there is a bit of a time gap there.   The fact that you can throw a question out and usually gain a response in a short amount of time from someone acting altruistically from somewhere in the world is what the internet is all about.

My challenge today was to only display a paragraph or two of a post on the home page and not have the entire article spanning down the page with the little teasers of articles at the bottom.   Well I am happy to announce by the time I returned home this afternoon a response was waiting for me.  It was exactly what I was looking for.  It was actually very easy – I way over complicated it but it was something I couldn’t find the answer to within a few searches so if you might have the same question – Here is the Answer.

In Edit mode of WordPress, at manage posts – you pick the spot in your article with the cursor that you want the article to stop at for the front page teaser.  You then choose the first icon box of the little pages pictures, in the tool box of the edit box in WordPress. There are two little icons that look like boxes cut in half, with a gap between them.   As soon as you click the one on the left it will put the break in the article and you save and you’re done.  Very easy.  The keystrokes are   Alt – Shift – T for all you keystroke mashers.
