Today it is more important than ever to have a web presence.   Whether you are a brick and mortar business or not you will ask the question, how to increase web traffic?  Everyone has at least one email address and the yellow pages have been replaced by Google searches.   It is not even necessary to have a website to be found on the search engines these days.  It certainly helps to have a website but it’s not necessary with all the search engine and business listings like Kudzu, Google Business Listing and the list goes on.

The real deal is how to get top Google ranking so people can find you.  There are some great tools available to assist you in finding relevant keywords but the key is what strategy to use once you find them.

Trying to figure out the marketing strategy of Google and what helps you or hurts you in the search rankings is the ever evolving goal.   I have been a diligent student for a few years now and I have studied a variety of ideas on how to increase web traffic.  Some of them work better than others and combining a few techniques has produced good results as well.

The bottom line is the best we can do is to keep evolving with the marketing strategy of Google.   One of the best ways to get on the cutting edge is to gain some insider information.

Vanessa Fox is an ex-Google strategist that worked closely with the Webmaster Central program.  This program helps webmasters in their battle with SEO and gives them insight to ranking well.  She has written a book titled – Marketing In The Age Of Google – where she goes beyond helping people pinpoint issues that might be preventing them from doing well in the search.  She looks beyond the focus of just ranking well and puts it on connecting with the right audience.  This book is a tool to help businesses understand why organic search is important to their long-term success and shows them how to tap into a more focused customer pool they have been missing.

With the background Vanessa brings to the table and the angle at which she is addressing her new book I consider this a must read if you are doing any form of internet marketing.  That includes anyone who does not have a website but wants their address and phone number to be found via a Google Search.
