kodakplaysport Recently I made a purchase of a Kodak PlaySport (Zx3) HD Waterproof Pocket Video Camera . I met someone at NAMS4 that had one and I was very impressed with the look and the fact that it could be used under water.  I happened to be going down to Florida the next week and I thought it would be great fun to test it out in the ocean.  We had a blast with it and learned a lot about the camera as well, so I had to do a Kodak Playsport Review.  This thing is Awesome.

Submerge It!!!

The camera does work great under water but you can’t help but second guess your action the first time you submerge the camera.  Once you do and realize that it does still work after being submerged – you want to find new and creative ways to video tape under water.  The sound is muffled underwater but the picture quality is fine as long as the water is clear.

On The Go Video Shooting

The video quality out of the water is very good and gives you a variety of choices in quality up to 1080p.  You have the ability to take single shots as well but the quality is not as good as a regular camera.  You will love the size and sleekness of this little video camera.  It is easy to slip into your pocket and take it anywhere.  We actually took it to the driving range to video tape our golf swings today and this evening we took it Geocaching to video tape my daughter finding the treasure.  It is so easy to use and grab in an instant to capture on the go events like this.

You Will Need To Convert The Files To Use With Windows Movie Maker

The one issue I have is that the format of the videos is in .mov.  There is  software that Kodak gives you to edit the videos but it is hard to use.  I was a little frustrated because if it is easy to shoot videos it should be easy to get them on the web.  Today I found the answer.  It is free and does a great job of converting the .mov files to .wmv so you can drop them into Windows Movie Maker and edit your shoots quickly and efficiently.  Here is the link to the site that gives you the free download.

Free Video Converter

All in all I love the little Kodak Play Sport Waterproof Video Camera.  It requires an SD Memory card that will need to be purchased separately.  I have an 8GB card in mine and it seems to give me more than enough video shooting time.  If I had much more time and space I am afraid it would get to messy with all the videos I would keep on the thing so 8GB is good for me.

A mistake I made when I first tried to load the videos from the card to my computer is I took the card out of the video camera and stuck it into the card slot on my computer like I do with my camera cards.  The problem was it didn’t work like that.  You will need to use the cable connection directly from the video camera to the USB port on your computer to sink up with the Kodak software.  A small issue but one that had me believing the camera wasn’t working properly since I couldn’t get the videos to work.

I have done some research on this camera as well and most reviews are pretty strong.  There are a good number of them on Amazon and with free shipping this is a great place to buy one. Don’t forget to get a case for it as well.  I actually use a GPS case for mine which works great.

You can get your Kodak Play Sport here and at a pretty good price as well.  I paid about $135 for mine but Amazon has them for a little less than that.  This is a GREAT DEAL!!!!

Go get the Kodak Playsport Now.  There are over 400 reviews on this Amazon page.

If you have any experience with this camera or any other flip type phone please leave a comment below and let us know your thoughts.
