How Scuba Class & Internet Marketing Are Related

Summer 2011 Almost Over – What Have You Accomplished This Summer

I can’t believe the summer is in wrap up mode already.  It has been a busy one for me and I hope you have grown as much, if not more than me this summer.  I actually spent this last weekend a little outside of my comfort zone and took a Scuba class.  I am not a strong swimmer and have only snorkeled a little bit off the shores of Panama City in water I could stand in so Scuba was a big leap for me.

What have you done lately to get outside of your comfort zone?  This is where we grow and challenge ourselves to do something our minds are telling us we might not be able to do.  I know because I just got done spending a weekend battling with myself about whether I was going to be able to go through the various underwater drills required to pass the Scuba class.  Let me tell you, I came close to throwing in my mask and snorkel a couple of times.   I just kept moving forward and when it was all over, I knew I had accomplished something I really didn’t know if I could do.  Now, I can’t wait to get back into the water.

This simple mindset has put me on the path to success a number of times in my life.  Here are a few of the secrets to gaining that mindset.

The Beginning

My brain has been on overload for the past 4 days and that is a good thing.  The stuff that has been going into it over these past 4 days has been the most positive, intelligent, genuine and friendly kind of stuff you could imagine.  I attended the NAMS6 (Niche Affiliate Marketing Workshop) here in Atlanta and it was superb.  This is the third NAMS I have been to and they just keep getting better and better.

The event actually started on Thursday with a little pre-workshop class on keyword research.  Unfortunately I was not able to attend but the general consensus of those that did said it was well worth it.  The NAMS event officially kicked off on Friday morning with a room full of eager internet marketers ready to absorb the content of the weekend.   Each day starts with an opening speaker and closes with a closing speaker.  The price of the workshop is worth just listening to these speakers.  They are dynamic, sincere and packed with as much quality and motivational speaking talents as some of the greats.

The first session I attended was on video and audio creation and was taught by a very savvy internet marketer named Mike Stewart.  Mike is a fellow Hotlanta resident and one that I was anxious to meet as I had found some of his stuff on the internet in the past year and loved how he presented his message.

The Real Stuff

The afternoon sessions I attended where filled with more nuggets of great internet secrets and instructions but the evening networking activities where the best of all.  My business partner met me for the networking and it was a lot of fun introducing her to the NAMS gang.  By the way she just became a namster herself the other day as she could not resist the incredible price to join and once she saw the quality of the people it was a no brainer.  You can see what I am talking about here. How To Make Money Taking Online Surveys

by Todd on August 8, 2011

Are You Desperately Searching For A Secondary or Primary Income?

In this crazy economy everyone is looking for a way to make some extra money and with the jobless rate hovering around 10% there are a lot of people just looking for work period.  The process of making money online can take a very long time, I can certainly attest to that.  I have been on the internet for the past 4 years and have just started to see the results and some people never see the results and just hang it up or continue to pursue the next shiny object that pops in front of them and off they go.

How Do You Make Money Online?

One of the tricks to making money online is going after some things that are more or less guaranteed to make you money.  It may not be a lot but if there is some kind of consistency, you can build on that.   Well taking surveys online and getting paid for it is just one of those guaranteed ways of making money online.  The beauty of it is you can do it right from your home.

How To Make Money Taking Surveys

No Driving Necessary

I have a friend that does quit a few of those focus group deals where you get paid for participating in some survey or think tank kind of scenerio.  The problem is he has to drive somewhere in the city and be there at a certain time and most of the time it is during rush hour and he is scrambling around to make the appointment.

Here is just some of the information you get with this book – FYI there are 3 other bonus books you get with this offer.  It's crazy.

I am the administrator of an ever growing list of fan pages for myself and my clients and so it has become necessary to do updates and posts throughout the day.  I am pretty mobile throughout the day and try to send updates when I pop open my laptop but I knew I needed to figure out a way to do it with my smart phone.    I wasn't sure if I could make it work but I thought there must be a way to do it.   Well with a little research I figured it out and so wanted to share my discovery with you.

If you are working on your own Fan Page and have been looking for some help on creating your iFrame pages then you should check out this FREE tutorial program I created that teaches you exactly how to do it.  I even give you some templates to choose from and customize to fit your needs.  Free Facebook Fanpage Tutorial Program

There are actually a few different ways to do it but the one that made the most sense to me is the email method.

You can find these directions within the the edit mode of your fan page.  Click on Mobile and you will see these instructions.

With Mobile Email

If you have email on your mobile device (e.g., Blackberry, Android, etc.), use email to upload photos or status updates:

  1. Save this email address to your phone as a contact:
  2. To upload a photo, email the photo to this address and include a caption in the email subject line.
  3. To update your status, write in the email subject line and leave the email body blank.

With Mobile Web

The easiest way to find your page is to type in the URL for your page. To obtain a personalized Facebook URL for your page, visit http://facebook.com/username .

With the iPhone

Install the Facebook application and login. Click the "+" sign on the top left corner and then Click "Pages" on bottom right. Select your page — it is now a favorite on your home dock. Now click your page's icon. To post a photo, click the "camera" icon. To post a status update, tap the "What's on your mind?" field.

With Text Messaging (SMS)

Sign up for Facebook Text Messages to post status updates to your page.

Hope this helps you and if you have any questions or comments please leave them in the comments below.

I recently had the privilege of presenting to a group in Roswell, Georgia about keyword research for your business and claiming your local business listings.  It was a lot of fun and the people just loved it.  It is hard not to love something that can make you money and it doesn't cost you anything.  That's right, claiming your local business listings is FR.EE.  Well it will cost you some time but if you have not done it you need to invest the time in your business and utilize these FREE listings on the internet so people can find you.  No one in the seminar had claimed their listings yet so chances are you have not either.

This is like FR.EE advertising with pictures and videos about your business along with written descriptions and coupons and much, much more.   You don't even need to have a website.  These local business listings provided by the search engines have literally replaced the Yellow Pages.  Would you have entered your business information in the Yellow Pages if they offered it to you for FR.EE years ago when that was one of the only ways people found your business?  Of course you would.  Businesses paid $200 – $500 +++ to have their ads in the yellow pages.  Now you get it for FR.EE.

There is strategy involved to make sure people find you but you can worry about all that later.  The first thing you need to do is claim your listings.   Here is an article I wrote earlier about claiming your local listings where you can get a FR.EE download checklist to help you stay focused as you claim your listings.  Local Business Checklist

Go Here -  Local Business Listings Score  and enter your business name and zip code and see what happens.  If you are below 75% you definitely need to get to work.  If you need help go here and contact me.  Internet Launch Marketing  .    I will help you set everything up so it can start working for you.

So you are thinking about setting up a Home Video Production Studio.  It is really pretty simple to do and the cash outlay is basic compared to what you would need have normally spent on video and lighting equipment.  I have listed the components I have accumulated for my studio and you could do the same.

For the past 3 or 4 weeks I have been working on setting up my home video studio so I can start shooting more videos for clients and my own projects.  I have written some posts already about the video camera I am using which is the Kodak Zi8.  That camera is amazing, it just does not look like it is that sophisticated but with the external mic feature and the way it captures video you really don't need anything else.  It even does pretty good still pictures.

I wanted to increase the length of my site search box on my Thesis Theme.  The stock, out of the box site search box is rather small in width and looks kind of silly compared to everything else around it.

It is pretty easy to do – just put this code in the custom.css file on your Thesis Theme.  You can make color, size and other adjustments to customize it for your own application.

.custom .search_form .text_input {
    		background: none repeat scroll 0 0 #ffffff;
    		border-color: #000000;
   		font-size: 1em;
   		line-height: 1.1em;
   		padding: 0.35em 0.5em;
  		width: 80%;

Facebook Apps Directory Shut Down

by Todd on July 15, 2011

I have been trying to find the Facebook App Directory this week on every time I tried there was a message that the page was not found.  At first I thought I was just missing something but after a couple more tries with no results I started looking for what the problem was.  Well, I found out why.  Facebook has shut down the App Directory.

Here is the announcement from the Facebook directory announcing the change.

Today, we are announcing two updates to decouple the search submission from the directory to make it easier for you to get your app into the Facebook search index:

  1. We are removing the App Directory (in its current form) since it does not drive a significant amount of traffic to your apps.
  2. We are creating a new, simplified way to get your app into the Facebook search index.

About 6 months ago, or maybe longer, you know how time flies, I wrote a post about how I cleaned out my Gmail inbox that had accumulated something like 4000 + emails.  It was ridiculous, just one more area of my life that was cluttered.  Do you know what I mean???

What I did at the end of 2010 is get this little book that has changed my life – now it hasn't created a whole new life but it has helped make some positive shifts in things like staying organized and cleaning out clutter from my life.
