Here is a snippet from a post I found about the FTC starting their own blog about Technology. Notice the date of the post. FTC Launches Tech Blog on Wordpress March 23, 2012 The first post is written by Ed Felten, Chief Technologist at the FTC, who goes on to say that the point of the blog is to talk candidly about technology in a way that is "sophisticated enough to be interesting to hard-core techies, but straightforward … [Read more...]
Creating a Static Home Page & Blog Section with Thesis – WordPress

I recently set up a couple of new sites that required a home page that stayed the same all the time and a couple of other pages for information. More of a content management site then a blog. I still wanted the ability to continuously add pages/posts like a blog but I needed some static structure to the site as well. I had seen some sites like this, built with Thesis, but I could not quit figure out how to do it. So, like many … [Read more...]
How to Hyperlink Pictures
A friend of mine who has a blog called Frohardy.com asked me today how to turn a picture into a hyperlink. He has some fantastic pictures you should check out by the way. More specifically though, he asked how to make a picture in the sidebar of a Wordpress Website become a hyperlink. I tried to explain it to him over the phone but instead decided to do a quick tutorial so he could learn, I could become a better teacher … [Read more...]
Thesis Rotating Header – A Blog Upgrade

I have been working lately on giving my blog a new look. One of the reasons I started thinking about this was that a number of the blogs I frequent have made upgrade changes lately. As I evaluated these new blog looks and compared them to my blog it was evident why they had made the changes they made. Cleaner – Brighter – Less Cluttered All of the blog sites had made changes to help them look cleaner, … [Read more...]
One of My Favorite WordPress Themes
Click here to visit StudioPress. One of my favorite Wordpress Themes is the Church Theme from Studio Press. I like this theme for a couple of reasons. One the layout is nice and clean. It provides an easy way to add some great pictures to bring the home page alive and capture the attention of the visitor. The biggest reason I like this theme is because of the way they have set up their link menus for both post … [Read more...]
Listing Multiple Twitter Accounts On Your Website.

I have been building websites for some friends and clients since I learned how easy it is to set up Wordpress sites. It is amazing how many applications are available as plug-ins and widgets. You can add practically anything you need to your site as a plug-in. So when a client asked me if it would be possible to display multiple twitter accounts to his site I said, “of course we can”. Well, I soon learned … [Read more...]
Removing Comments Box From Archive Page In WordPress Thesis Theme.
Sometimes quickly and sometimes slowly. As I proceed with my customisation process of this site you are going to get all the goodies that took me some time to figure out. You will either get some good information that helps to solve the same problems I encountered or you will get to say, “Dude, I can’t believe you didn’t know that”. Well this might be one of those times. In my defense, I have searched for the last couple of … [Read more...]
Customizing My Home Page in WordPress / Thesis
I love the internet. As I learn more about it and become more involved with it I am amazed at the people inside of the internet. You see, I am the kind of person that will wait until the very last possible minute to ask for help. I rarely asked my teachers or fellow students in school for help, thinking that would make me seem like I didn’t know the answer and give myself away. It just did not make sense to me. What happened is I … [Read more...]
My Thesis Full-Header & Custom Background
I have just spent the weekend setting up this site with the Thesis wordpress theme. My challenge was to get the full-header to do what I wanted it to do and have the custom background act right as well. It took most of the weekend to get the answers and maybe they can help you as well. This is the first time I have actually purchased a theme . With so many free themes available it took me a while to pull the trigger. I did some research … [Read more...]
WordPress Comments Settings
I recently discovered one of the big reasons I was not receiving any comments on my blog was because the setting to require visitors to be logged in as registered visitors to the post a comment had been turned on. I don't know how this happened but I have a sneaky suspicion it is related to the Thesis theme I use. I set up a blog for my wife called Aspergers Living and the same thing occurred. It took me about 45 minutes or so to figure … [Read more...]
